It is so important to make the most of business opportunities to get your business noticed. There are so many ways you can create PR opportunities: you may be launching a new product, celebrating a client win, new staff appointment, charity event, the list is endless!

Perhaps you want to issue a press release, but you need to make sure it stands out with an eye-catching headline, so in order to grab attention from the media and potential new customers, your announcement needs to be unique, not just a sales pitch. A journalist is far more likely to pick up on the story if you can demonstrate how your product or service has solved a problem for a customer and include some facts and figures. Customer quotes make PR so much more credible too.

exhibitingAttending and exhibiting at conferences and exhibitions is an excellent way to promote your business, if you are a specialist in your field, find an exhibition where you can secure a speaking opportunity. Perhaps you want to launch a new product or service so why don’t you invite some VIPs to your stand.

Remember it is always good to raise awareness for your business in your local community as well as in the trade press. Have an open day, support and raise money for a local charity, invite some special guests and above all have fun!

And of course the realms of social media, be it Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn are tools that we can use regularly to help with all of the above. More to follow on that…..

The skill of successful copywriting

Copywriting is one of the most essential elements of effective marketing.  Copy needs to be clear, succinct that interests the reader from the start.  Make your copy relevant to your target audience, don’t baffle them with 500 words of convoluted waffle, 50 words in the language of your audience is much better!

copywriting_postIt is a well known fact that readers make snap decisions based on a quick scan of the first page, so make sure it stands out with eye-grabbing headlines.  It is important to take time to understand your business, products and services and audience before putting pen to paper.  Highlight the benefits of what you are offering and always include an irresistible offer and a strong call to action.

It has been said before copyrighting is an art and this is so true, every sentence you write must make the reader want to read the next one. Miles PR & Marketing can help you meet that challenge by supplying thought provoking content that will engage your customers at a reasonable price.

linkedinsaidIf your Marketing budget isn’t huge, it doesn’t mean to say you can’t do some of the most important marketing activities.  Remember what you need is creative ideas and a can-do approach in order to promote your business.

We are all guilty of saying we are too busy to sit down and think about how best to market our business but it is essential to take time out to think about what you are going to do.  Try and spend at least a day a month on planning your marketing ideas, some ideas on your list could be organising a charity event; a speaking opportunity; promoting your services through social media.   Perhaps you need a helping hand to get those creative juices flowing with an initial brainstorm.

Consider using social media – setting up a LinkedIn, Facebook Profile is free and written well can help build your reputation and let people know about your business, products and services. Reap benefits for your business by investing a small amount of time to social media and get those all important key words and messages into your profile.

You need to be constantly communicating with your existing and potential clients, remember communication is key, whether it is a regular newsletter, blog, press release campaign.  Remember your communication needs to be simple, clear with powerful messages that grab attention.

Before making any decisions regarding your PR and Marketing activities work out the return on investment .  Quite simply, just write down how much it is going to cost you and as to how much business you will need to bring in to make it pay for itself.  If the numbers don’t stack up, don’t do it!

Good luck!
